Orpheus ? \n\n\n\nOrpheus was a musician\, poet and prophet in Greek myth
ology. His parents were the king of Thrace Oeagrus and the Muse Calliope.
As he grew older\, it became apparent that Orpheus was extremely gifted mu
sically. He could play any instrument perfectly and his singing voice was
so beautiful that it could charm animals\, trees and even rocks. When he w
as grown\, Orpheus journeyed to Olympus to meet Apollo\, god of music. Apo
llo was so impressed with Orpheus that he gave him the golden lyre and tau
ght him how to play. With his new instrument in hand\, Orpheus returned to
Thrace where he quickly became famous for his music. Everyone who heard h
im play or sing fell instantly in love with him. The Orpheus myth is a pow
erful symbol of artistic power and love. \n\n\n\nSource: https://www.greek

SUMMARY:A Brief History of Berlin Kabarett
DESCRIPTION:\nDirect from Europe : Anne Fromm\, Thomas Kellner\, and Johann
a Paliege\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy sit alone in a room. Come to the KABARETT!\n\
n\n\nStep into a relaxed nightclub atmosphere as three German cabaret arti
 sts\, actors\, and singers—Anne Fromm\, Thomas Kellner\, and Johanna Pal
iege —invite you on a wild ride through the history of German cabaret.Th
is witty\, frivolous\, yet deeply touching showcase weaves together songs\
 , anecdotes\, and mini-scenes into a captivating historical mosaic.The jou
rney begins at the dawn of the 20th century. Heavily inspired by the Paris
ian avant-garde of Montmartre and Montparnasse\, these early artistic expe
riments paved the way for the Golden Twenties and Thirties—a roaring hey
day of variety shows in Berlin and Munich that sparked an explosion of cre
ativity\, originality\, and diversity. This open-minded\, critical golden
age met a brutal end under the Nazi regime. The forced emigration and depo
rtation of Jewish\, queer\, and labeled "degenerate" (Entartete Kunst) art
ists stripped the art form of its bite\, weaponizing it into mere wartime
propaganda and distraction. Yet\, small glimmers of hope endured through u
nderground resistance and exile in Zurich and overseas. The post-war era s
plit the stage: in the GDR\, political cabaret survived behind a veil of s
trict censorship\, forcing artists to deliver encrypted messages between t
he lines\, while West Germany’s economic miracle years brought a lighter
\, more exuberant style of entertainment. The late 1960s revived cabaret's
combative spirit\, fueled by the peace\, anti-nuclear\, and ecological mo
vements. Over time\, the traditional revue evolved into the distinctly Ger
 man Kabarett—a sharp\, spoken-word format driven by biting socio-politic
al satire and razor-sharp linguistic wit rather than music and spectacle.
What remains of cabaret today? It lives on. Sometimes steeped in historica
 l nostalgia\, other times loud\, cheeky\, and underground\, the scene acro
ss Berlin\, Munich\, and Cologne is constantly being reinvented by interna
 tional artists and diverse\, boundary-pushing art movements.\n\n\n\nDANK H

SUMMARY:Homage to Yves Mathieu’s Cabaret Lapin Agile
DESCRIPTION:\n\nPart I-solo piano by Jean Claude Orfali\; \n\n\n\nPart II-
a potpourri of Paris in songs \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJean-Claude Orfali is a
favorite of PianoForte Chicago's owner Thomas Zoells for good reason. His
ability to create infinite variations of musical themes\, the delightful t

Lapin Agile\, he will begin our evening of homage to Yves Mathieu\, the la
te owner of the Cabaret Lapin Agile.\n\n\n\n\nThe Lapin Agile is the oldes
t extant cabaret room in Paris\, the birthplace of cabaret as a gathering
place for musicians and artists. Veterans of the Cabaret Connexion have ha
d the privilege of performing at the Lapin Agile since 2017\, joining the
ongoing late-nights of song and camaraderie. Tonight we celebrate the fami
ly legacy carried on by Yves Mathieu and his sons Frederic and Vincent wit
h more songs and a short video montage by Christine Steyer and Jean-Claude
Orfali. Visit our video homage to Yves Mathieu here.\n\n\n\nLIVESTREAM wi
