Christine Steyer

Through Bellissima Opera Outreach, an organization she founded, Christine Steyer brings classical music to local youth in under-served areas. Steyer is president of Working In Concert, as well as artistic director of Bellissima Opera. Bellissima’s primary project is Tales of Transcendence, a new opera suite by composer David Shenton. Christine was featured on WFMT’s program Whole Notes: Music of Healing and Peace, performing the aria “Red” from the opera Future Perfect.

Soprano Steyer is the 2020 Recipient of The American Prize for Excellence in the Arts and prior recipient of the American Prize Chicago Oratorio/Opera and Johnny Mercer awards. She has performed principal roles in Madama Butterfly and Violetta in La Traviata. She served in various roles and as chorister in 40 productions at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Steyer has collaborated with numerous poets and musicians to publish Six Songs for Soprano and is collaborating with French piantist, Jean-Claude Orfali, on a book of original cabaret songs. She toured the U.K. with Chamber Opera Chicago’s Persuasion and France with the Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion.

Steyer teaches voice privately and is an adjunct faculty member at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois.
